Hi, I’m Kayla and thanks for checking out my blog, Lowdown Ridge.
This is where I share my projects, crafts, and adventures while including tips on things I’ve learned along the way.
I am a farm girl, outdoors woman, teacher, crafter, foodie, and dog mom so I have a variety of things to share. I wanted a platform to share all my adventures and tips so others could either come along with me for the ride or be inspired to have their own adventure or start a new project.
I grew up on a farm in rural NE Iowa where my family raised beef cattle and cash crops. We are a unique clan and it never gets old when I tell people that there are two sets of twins in my family. Eyes get even wider when I continue to explain that I have a brother who is two years older than my twin sister and I, and we have a younger brother and sister who are twins, two years younger…
If you were keeping track, yes, my parents had 5 children under the age of four at one one point in time and no, I don’t know how they did it either.I do know, however, that it made growing up really fun! If blogging was a thing at that time, I know my mom would have been the QUEEN of blogging for sure.
My family and upbringing is definitely a reason as to how I have the variety of skills and hobbies I have today. I didn’t make it too far from home as I now live about 5 miles from where I grew up. That means I still get to have continued fun at the family farmstead where most of my adventures are had.
Lowdown Ridge is what my husband, Tim, and I unofficially called our little acreage and is how my blog name came about. When I decided to start this I was so excited to come up with my catchphrase to be a playoff of my home’s name. I thought it was a perfect way to encompass the variety of topics I plan to write about and share.
I hope you choose to follow me for all the upcoming adventures and let me give you the Lowdown on what I know along the way.
